This lesson will carefully walk students through the creation of drum patterns in Logic Pro in the style of Afro-Swing.

This is a style that is massive in the UK charts at the moment with artists like Stormzy, JHus and Aitch working within the genre to varying degrees. Even if your students haven’t heard of Afro-Swing (also called Afrobeats, Afro and Afro Bashment) they will more than likely intuitively recognise the style.

The lesson:

• 1-2 hours worth of material

• Students work through experimentation, copying and then finally creation of an original idea

• All stages of the lesson are supported by Logic Pro Resources with bespoke backing tracks and embedded ‘how to’ videos

This is tried and tested and works well for KS3 and Level 2 classes!
